The Jackal and the Drum


Once a hungry jackal was wandering about in search of food.

After some time, he wandered out of the jungle he lived in and reached a deserted battlefield. Suddenly, he heard a strange noise.

He got very frightened and thought of running away.

"If I cannot flee from here, before I am seen by the person making all this noise, I will be in trouble".

As he was about to run away, he had a second thought.

"It is unwise to run away from something without knowing. Instead, I must be careful in finding out the source of this noise".

He took the courage to creep forward cautiously.

He saw a drum lying near a tree which was left behind by the fighting armies.

As strong winds blew, the branches of the tree got rubbed against the drum. This made a strange noise.

So, he realized that, it was only the wind that was causing all the noise.

He continued, his search for food;

And near the drum he found sufficient food and water.

  The Cocoon and the butterfly Once upon a time a little girl lived with her mother. One day, while playing in her garden, she saw something hanging from the branch of a bush.  On inquiring her mother told her that it was a cocoon of a butterfly and soon a butterfly will hatch from it.  The little girl was very excited to see the beautiful butterfly.  One day, a small opening appeared in the cocoon.  She sat and watched the butterfly for several hours as it struggled to force its body through that little hole.   The Elephant Rope  A Young boy was walking through an elephant camp, and he spotted that the elephants were not being kept in cages or held using ropes. All that was holding them back from escaping the camp, was a small piece of rope tied to one of their legs. As the boy gazed upon the elephants, he was completely confused as to why the elephants didnot just use their strength to break the rope  and escape the camp.  They could easily have done so, but instead, they did not try to at all. Curious, he asked a trainer nearby why the elephants were just standing there and never tried to escape. The trainer replied, when they are very young, and much smaller we use the same size rope to tie them and, at that age,  its enough to hold them.
