The Monkey and the Wedge Once upon a time, a rich man employed workers to build his mansion.  Regularly, they would start work in the morning and take a break for the mid-day meals and return to resume work till evening.  One day, a group of monkeys arrived at the site of the building and watched the workers leaving for their mid-day meals.  One of the carpenters was sawing a huge log of wood. Since, it was only half-done; he placed a wedge in between to prevent the log from closing up.  He then went off along with the other workers for his meal. When all the workers were gone, the monkeys came down from the trees and started jumping around the site and playing with the tools.  There was one monkey, who got curious about the wedge, placed between the log. He sat down on the log and having placed himself in between the half-split log caught hold of the wedge and started pulling at it.  All of a sudden, the wedge came out.   The Fox & the Grapes A Fox one day spied a beautiful bunch of ripe grapes hanging from a vine trained along the branches of a tree. The grapes seemed ready to burst with juice, and the Fox's mouth watered as he gazed longingly at them. The bunch hung from a high branch, and the Fox had to jump for it. The first time he jumped he missed it by a long way. So he walked off a short distance and took a running leap at it, only to fall short once more. Again and again he tried, but in vain. Now he sat down and looked at the grapes in disgust. "What a fool I am," he said. "Here I am wearing myself out to get a bunch of sour grapes that are not worth gaping for." And off he walked very, very scornfully. There are many who pretend to despise and belittle that which is beyond their reach.   The Elephant Rope  A Young boy was walking through an elephant camp, and he spotted that the elephants were not being kept in cages or held using ropes. All that was holding them back from escaping the camp, was a small piece of rope tied to one of their legs. As the boy gazed upon the elephants, he was completely confused as to why the elephants didnot just use their strength to break the rope  and escape the camp.  They could easily have done so, but instead, they did not try to at all. Curious, he asked a trainer nearby why the elephants were just standing there and never tried to escape. The trainer replied, when they are very young, and much smaller we use the same size rope to tie them and, at that age,  its enough to hold them. As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe, they cannot break away.  They believe the rope can still hold them, so they never try to break free.”   The only reason that the elephants were not breaking free and escaping from the camp was that over

  The Cocoon and the butterfly Once upon a time a little girl lived with her mother. One day, while playing in her garden, she saw something hanging from the branch of a bush.  On inquiring her mother told her that it was a cocoon of a butterfly and soon a butterfly will hatch from it.  The little girl was very excited to see the beautiful butterfly.  One day, a small opening appeared in the cocoon.  She sat and watched the butterfly for several hours as it struggled to force its body through that little hole. Until it suddenly stopped making any progress and looked like it was stuck. So, she decided to help the butterfly by snipping off the remaining bit of the cocoon using scissors. The butterfly then emerged easily although it had a swollen body and small shriveled wings. The girl was happy as she thought she had done the butterfly a favor.  She sat there waiting and waiting to see the butterfly flying.   The Golden Plate  [Greed and Honesty] Once upon a time in a place called Seri, there were two salesmen of pots and pans and hand-made trinkets. They agreed to divide the town between them. After one had gone through his area, it was all right for the other to try and sell where the first had already been. One day, while one of them was coming down a street, a poor little girl saw him and asked her grandmother to buy her a bracelet. The old grandmother replied, "How can we poor people buy bracelets?" The little girl said, "Since we don't have any money, we can give our black sooty old plate." The old woman agreed to give it a try, so she invited the dealer inside. She asked, "We have an old plate, can we trade it for a bracelet?" The man took it and, while examining it, happened to scratch the bottom of it. To his surprise, he saw that underneath the black soot, it was a golden plate! He decided to deceive them. He said, "This is not worth even o

  A Pound of Butter  Once upon a time there was a farmer in a village. His friend was a baker, who lives in the nearby town. The farmer used to sell a pound of butter daily to the baker. One day, the baker decided to weigh the butter, to see if he was getting the right amount, which he was not.  Angry about this, he took the farmer to court. The judge asked the farmer, if he was using any measure, to weight the butter.  The farmer replied, "Honor, I dont have a proper measure, but I do have a primitive scale. The judge asked, “Then how do you weigh the butter?” The farmer replied,   “Your Honor, Long before the baker started buying butter from me, I have been buying a pound loaf of bread from him.  Every day when the baker brings the bread, I put it on the scale and give him the same weight in butter.  If anyone is to be blamed, it is the baker.”   Youtube video link of this story For more such videos please subscribe our channel
