The Monkey and the Wedge Once upon a time, a rich man employed workers to build his mansion.  Regularly, they would start work in the morning and take a break for the mid-day meals and return to resume work till evening.  One day, a group of monkeys arrived at the site of the building and watched the workers leaving for their mid-day meals.  One of the carpenters was sawing a huge log of wood. Since, it was only half-done; he placed a wedge in between to prevent the log from closing up.  He then went off along with the other workers for his meal. When all the workers were gone, the monkeys came down from the trees and started jumping around the site and playing with the tools.  There was one monkey, who got curious about the wedge, placed between the log. He sat down on the log and having placed himself in between the half-split log caught hold of the wedge and started pulling at it.  All of a sudden, the wedge came out.   The Fox & the Grapes A Fox one day spied a beautiful bunch of ripe grapes hanging from a vine trained along the branches of a tree. The grapes seemed ready to burst with juice, and the Fox's mouth watered as he gazed longingly at them. The bunch hung from a high branch, and the Fox had to jump for it. The first time he jumped he missed it by a long way. So he walked off a short distance and took a running leap at it, only to fall short once more. Again and again he tried, but in vain. Now he sat down and looked at the grapes in disgust. "What a fool I am," he said. "Here I am wearing myself out to get a bunch of sour grapes that are not worth gaping for." And off he walked very, very scornfully. There are many who pretend to despise and belittle that which is beyond their reach.   The Elephant Rope  A Young boy was walking through an elephant camp, and he spotted that the elephants were not being kept in cages or held using ropes. All that was holding them back from escaping the camp, was a small piece of rope tied to one of their legs. As the boy gazed upon the elephants, he was completely confused as to why the elephants didnot just use their strength to break the rope  and escape the camp.  They could easily have done so, but instead, they did not try to at all. Curious, he asked a trainer nearby why the elephants were just standing there and never tried to escape. The trainer replied, when they are very young, and much smaller we use the same size rope to tie them and, at that age,  its enough to hold them. As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe, they cannot break away.  They believe the rope can still hold them, so they never try to break free.”   The only reason that the elephants were not breaking free and escaping from the camp was that over

  The Cocoon and the butterfly Once upon a time a little girl lived with her mother. One day, while playing in her garden, she saw something hanging from the branch of a bush.  On inquiring her mother told her that it was a cocoon of a butterfly and soon a butterfly will hatch from it.  The little girl was very excited to see the beautiful butterfly.  One day, a small opening appeared in the cocoon.  She sat and watched the butterfly for several hours as it struggled to force its body through that little hole. Until it suddenly stopped making any progress and looked like it was stuck. So, she decided to help the butterfly by snipping off the remaining bit of the cocoon using scissors. The butterfly then emerged easily although it had a swollen body and small shriveled wings. The girl was happy as she thought she had done the butterfly a favor.  She sat there waiting and waiting to see the butterfly flying.   The Golden Plate  [Greed and Honesty] Once upon a time in a place called Seri, there were two salesmen of pots and pans and hand-made trinkets. They agreed to divide the town between them. After one had gone through his area, it was all right for the other to try and sell where the first had already been. One day, while one of them was coming down a street, a poor little girl saw him and asked her grandmother to buy her a bracelet. The old grandmother replied, "How can we poor people buy bracelets?" The little girl said, "Since we don't have any money, we can give our black sooty old plate." The old woman agreed to give it a try, so she invited the dealer inside. She asked, "We have an old plate, can we trade it for a bracelet?" The man took it and, while examining it, happened to scratch the bottom of it. To his surprise, he saw that underneath the black soot, it was a golden plate! He decided to deceive them. He said, "This is not worth even o

  A Pound of Butter  Once upon a time there was a farmer in a village. His friend was a baker, who lives in the nearby town. The farmer used to sell a pound of butter daily to the baker. One day, the baker decided to weigh the butter, to see if he was getting the right amount, which he was not.  Angry about this, he took the farmer to court. The judge asked the farmer, if he was using any measure, to weight the butter.  The farmer replied, "Honor, I dont have a proper measure, but I do have a primitive scale. The judge asked, “Then how do you weigh the butter?” The farmer replied,   “Your Honor, Long before the baker started buying butter from me, I have been buying a pound loaf of bread from him.  Every day when the baker brings the bread, I put it on the scale and give him the same weight in butter.  If anyone is to be blamed, it is the baker.”   Youtube video link of this story For more such videos please subscribe our channel

  The Obstacles of Path Once upon a time there was a King. One day, he placed a large stone in the mid of a roadway. He then hid himself and watched to see if anyone would move the stone out of the way. Some of the king’s wealthiest merchants, and courtiers came by, and simply walked around it. Many people loudly blamed the King for not keeping the roads clear but none of them did anything about getting the stone out of the way. A peasant then passed by in his horse cart. Upon approaching the large stone, the peasant stopped. And tried to push the stone out of the road. After much pushing and straining, he finally succeeded. After the peasant went back to his cart, he noticed a purse lying near the vegetables. The purse contained many gold coins and a note from the King explaining that the gold was for the person who removed the large stone from the roadway.   The Group of Frogs As a group of frogs was traveling through the woods, two of them fell into a deep pit.  When the other frogs crowded around the pit and saw how deep it was, they told the two frogs that there was no hope left for them. However, the two frogs decided to ignore what the others were saying and they proceeded to  try and jump out of the pit .  Despite their efforts, the group of frogs at the top of the pit were still saying that they should just give up. That they would never make it out. Eventually, one of the frogs took heed to what the others were saying and he gave up, falling to his death.  The other frog continued to jump as hard as he could. Again, the crowd of frogs yelled at him to stop the pain and just die. He jumped even harder and finally made it out. When he got out, the other frogs said,  “Did you not hear us?” The frog explained to them that he was deaf. He thought they were encouraging him  the entire time.   Moral of the story: People’s words can have

Live Life King Size   An eagle’s egg was placed in the nest of a prairie chicken. The egg hatched and the little eagle grew up thinking it was a prairie chicken. The eagle did what the prairie chickens did. It scratched in the dirt for seeds. It clucked and cackled. It never flew more than a few feet because that is what the prairie chickens did. One day he saw an eagle flying gracefully and majestically in the open sky. He asked the prairie chickens: What is that beautiful bird? The chickens replied,”That is an eagle. He is an outstanding bird, but you can not fly like him because you are just a prairie chicken.” So the eagle never gave it a second thought, believing that to be the truth. He lived the life of and died a prairie chicken, depriving himself of his heritage because of his lack of vision. What a waste! Shake off Your Problems   A man’s favourite donkey falls into a deep precipice. Man can’t pull it out no matter how hard he tries. He therefore decides to bury it alive. Soil is poured onto the donkey from above. The donkey feels the load, shakes it off, and steps on it. More soil is poured. It shakes it off and steps up. The more the load was poured, the higher it rose. By noon, the donkey was grazing in green pastures.   The Frogs & the Ox  An Ox came down to a reedy pool to drink. As he splashed heavily into the water, he crushed a young Frog into the mud. The old Frog soon missed the little one and asked his brothers and sisters what had become of him.  "A great big monster," said one of them, "stepped on little brother with one of his huge feet!"  "Big, was he!" said the old Frog, puffing herself up. "Was he as big as this?"  "Oh, much bigger!" they cried.  The Frog puffed up still more.  "He could not have been bigger than this," she said. But the little Frogs all declared that the monster was much, much bigger and the old Frog kept puffing herself out more and more until, all at once, she burst.  Do not attempt the impossible.   THE FALCON AND THE BRANCH Once a king received two magnificent falcons as a gift from one of his vassal states. They were the most beautiful birds he has ever seen. Though the Falcons were still quite young at the time, they were beautiful specimens groomed for keeping in his court specifically. The king called the head falconer and handed the two beautiful birds to be trained. The falconer trained the birds for months. But one day the falconer informed the king that one of the falcons was flying and soaring high in the sky while the other has not moved from its branch since the day it had arrived. “I’ve never come across a bird as stubborn as this before,” the trainer complained to the king. He went on to describe how the creature ignored, refused, and stubbornly lashed out at his every attempt. “May be there is something wrong with this bird.  It just won’t fly.” said the trainer. For lunch the Country Mouse served wheat stalks, roots, and acorns, with a dash of cold water for drink.
