The Monkey and the Wedge Once upon a time, a rich man employed workers to build his mansion.  Regularly, they would start work in the morning and take a break for the mid-day meals and return to resume work till evening.  One day, a group of monkeys arrived at the site of the building and watched the workers leaving for their mid-day meals.  One of the carpenters was sawing a huge log of wood. Since, it was only half-done; he placed a wedge in between to prevent the log from closing up.  He then went off along with the other workers for his meal. When all the workers were gone, the monkeys came down from the trees and started jumping around the site and playing with the tools.  There was one monkey, who got curious about the wedge, placed between the log. The Fox & the Grapes- Short Story for Kids ( Aesop Fables)

Image
The Fox & the Grapes A Fox one day spied a beautiful bunch of ripe grapes hanging from a vine trained along the branches of a tree. The grapes seemed ready to burst with juice, and the Fox's mouth watered as he gazed longingly at them. The bunch hung from a high branch, and the Fox had to jump for it. The first time he jumped he missed it by a long way. So he walked off a short distance and took a running leap at it, only to fall short once more. Again and again he tried, but in vain. Now he sat down and looked at the grapes in disgust. "What a fool I am," he said. "Here I am wearing myself out to get a bunch of sour grapes that are not worth gaping for." And off he walked very, very scornfully. There are many who pretend to despise and belittle that which is beyond their reach. The Elephant Rope - Short Motivational Story

Image
The Elephant Rope  A Young boy was walking through an elephant camp, and he spotted that the elephants were not being kept in cages or held using ropes. All that was holding them back from escaping the camp, was a small piece of rope tied to one of their legs. As the boy gazed upon the elephants, he was completely confused as to why the elephants didnot just use their strength to break the rope  and escape the camp.  They could easily have done so, but instead, they did not try to at all. Curious, he asked a trainer nearby why the elephants were just standing there and never tried to escape. The trainer replied, when they are very young, and much smaller we use the same size rope to tie them and, at that age,  its enough to hold them. As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe, they cannot break away.  They believe the rope can still hold them, so they never try to break free.”   The only reason that the elephants were not breaking free and escaping from the camp was that over

Until it suddenly stopped making any progress and looked like it was stuck. So, she decided to help the butterfly by snipping off the remaining bit of the cocoon using scissors. The butterfly then emerged easily although it had a swollen body and small shriveled wings. The girl was happy as she thought she had done the butterfly a favor.  She sat there waiting and waiting to see the butterfly flying. But that did not happen.  Since, the butterfly's wings were too weak to supp

Live Life King Size - Short Motivational story for Kids

Image
Live Life King Size   An eagle’s egg was placed in the nest of a prairie chicken. The egg hatched and the little eagle grew up thinking it was a prairie chicken. The eagle did what the prairie chickens did. It scratched in the dirt for seeds. It clucked and cackled. It never flew more than a few feet because that is what the prairie chickens did. One day he saw an eagle flying gracefully and majestically in the open sky. He asked the prairie chickens: What is that beautiful bird? The chickens replied,”That is an eagle. He is an outstanding bird, but you can not fly like him because you are just a prairie chicken.” So the eagle never gave it a second thought, believing that to be the truth. He lived the life of and died a prairie chicken, depriving himself of his heritage because of his lack of vision. What a waste! He was born to win, but was conditioned to lose.   Learning -  Problems in our life are bestowed on us, to free us from our mental bondage. The gift of freedom (Success) com

The Falcon & The Branch - Short Stories for Kids

Image
THE FALCON AND THE BRANCH Once a king received two magnificent falcons as a gift from one of his vassal states. They were the most beautiful birds he has ever seen. Though the Falcons were still quite young at the time, they were beautiful specimens groomed for keeping in his court specifically. The king called the head falconer and handed the two beautiful birds to be trained. The falconer trained the birds for months. But one day the falconer informed the king that one of the falcons was flying and soaring high in the sky while the other has not moved from its branch since the day it had arrived. “I’ve never come across a bird as stubborn as this before,” the trainer complained to the king. He went on to describe how the creature ignored, refused, and stubbornly lashed out at his every attempt. “May be there is something wrong with this bird.  It just won’t fly.” said the trainer. The falconer was one of the best in the land, his talents widely lauded by all who knew him. So, the k

The Town Mouse and The Country Mouse - Aesop Fables (Short Stories for Kids)

Image
The Town Mouse & the Country Mouse A Town Mouse once visited a relative who lived in the country. For lunch the Country Mouse served wheat stalks, roots, and acorns, with a dash of cold water for drink. The Town Mouse ate very sparingly, nibbling a little of this and a little of that, and by her manner making it very plain that she ate the simple food only to be polite.  After the meal the friends had a long talk, or rather the Town Mouse talked about her life in the city while the Country Mouse listened. They then went to bed in a cozy nest in the hedgerow and slept in quiet and comfort until morning. In her sleep the Country Mouse dreamed she was a Town Mouse with all the luxuries and delights of city life that her friend had described for her. So the next day when the Town Mouse asked the Country Mouse to go home with her to the city, she gladly said yes.  When they reached the mansion in which the Town Mouse lived, they found on the table in the dining room the leavings of a

Belling the Cat - Aesop Fables (short Stories for Kids)

Image
Belling the Cat The Mice once called a meeting to decide on a plan to free themselves of their enemy, the Cat. At least they wished to find some way of knowing when she was coming, so they might have time to run away. Indeed, something had to be done, for they lived in such constant fear of her claws that they hardly dared stir from their dens by night or day. Many plans were discussed, but none of them was thought good enough. At last a very young Mouse got up and said: "I have a plan that seems very simple, but I know it will be successful. All we have to do is to hang a bell about the Cat's neck. When we hear the bell ringing we will know immediately that our enemy is coming." All the Mice were much surprised that they had not thought of such a plan before. But in the midst of the rejoicing over their good fortune, an old Mouse arose and said: "I will say that the plan of the young Mouse is very good. But let me ask one question: Who will bell the Cat?"
